The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre

100 Mount Norquay Road Banff, Alberta

The Banff Recreation Centre (BRC) is the only facility for indoor hockey, skating and curling in Banff, Alberta. BRC is currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion to reuse the existing ice rink while also incorporating an additional ice rink, new curling rink, meeting rooms, offices and large concourse totaling to 96,500 square feet. Located in the Banff National Park the Town of Banff has strived to maintain the highest environmental design and construction standards to ensure the local bio-habitat is protected and maintained. Placing sustainability at the forefront, BRC has taken steps to rehabilitate the existing property and reduce environmental impact though minimizing and relocating parking away from surrounding creeks, managing all stormwater onsite, minimizing lighting, replanting native species and mitigating any previous soil contamination. Other great features include reusing ice melt to flush toilets and urinals and reusing glulam beams from both the demolished curling rink and a neighbouring school to construct the new curling rink.(summary imported from CAGBC database. remove this message if edited) READ MORE
