Summary
Canada Post Corporation is building a new mail processing plant in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The plant will consist of a mail processing area with a ground floor gross area of almost 23,000m_ and an additional 1,575m_ of support and administrative space on a second floor. The plant will be a model for future development by Canada Post. The new 27 acre site is located close to transportation services to better accommodate the delivery and distribution of mail and give Canada Post's customers the best possible service. The project incorporates a high efficiency heating system, a water reduction strategy to achieve a 30% reduction in potable water consumption, features native plants and hearty prairie grasses to reduce water usage, and will implement waste reduction processes during construction to divert at least 75% of waste from landfills.
