Summary

The Whitemud Park Amenity Buildings is a City of Edmonton Parks project that brings a new community activity centre (aptly named the Trailhead Building) and a permanent washroom building (the Amenities Building) to Whitemud Park. Whitemud Park is a naturalized municipal park located in the River Valley along the North Saskatchewan River and is a popular recreational area with hiking and biking trails, picnic areas, and a toboggan hill. It is also located next to Fort Edmonton Park, the John Janzen Nature Centre, and the Whitemud Equine Centre. This is the first City of Edmonton Parks project that will be striving for LEED certification. Both buildings are designed with energy reduction measures and sustainability goals in mind. The Trailhead Building will provide indoor spaces for various community and parks operated activities and a warm-up area for the growing number of toboggan hill and trail users. The Amenities Building is a new permanent washroom facility for all users of the park.
