SC3 Smith Carter Architects & Engineers Head Office

Smith Carter is a multidisciplinary design firm founded in 1947. Our newest building, SC3, is Smith Carter’s third corporate office, the design for which presented a tangible opportunity to demonstrate how our clients can benefit from the firm’s innovative approach to design. This new facility represents for Smith Carter the physical manifestation of our business paradigm shift from a traditional service model to an intellectual capital model. Smith Carter calls SC3 ‘A Green Beta Site for Serious Play’: ‘Green’ because the building expresses leadership in environmental responsibility; ‘Beta Site’ because the building is an experiment in new materials, technologies and design concepts; and ‘Serious Play’ because even though Smith Carter focuses on client success (the serious part), play is at the root of all innovation. Because of SC3, Smith Carter can say to our clients that we “walk the talk” by demonstrating that the initial investment in good design will reap numerous and compounding dividends over the lifespan of any building.
