Summary
The new Haliburton Fire Management Facility will accommodate fire management programs for the deployment of emergency response crews both on ground with fleet vehicles and in-air through a combination of fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The building consists of i) an Administration Area, ii) a Pilots Area iii) a Crew Operational Area with a Training Room, Kitchen, Crew Lounge, Crew leader Office, Crew Locker Areas, Laundry Room and Multi-Purpose Room, iv) Warehousing Area with a Warehouse, Walk-In Food Cold Storage, Small Parts Storage, Shipping & Receiving Areas, Warehouse Clerks Office, a Equipment Recycling Room for cleaning and refurbishing firefighting equipment, and v) building amenity spaces. Potable water will be provided via an onsite well. Sewage will be discharged to a septic bed on site.
The building will allow for ample daylighting and access to views of the outdoors. A ground-source heat pump system will provide heating and cooling, and Energy Recovery Ventilators will supply fresh air with Energy Recovery Wheels in order to conserve energy. Daylight and occupancy sensors will be provided in order to reduce unnecessary energy usage. Site lighting will use LED fixtures for energy conservation and will be designed to reduce light pollution to the surrounding areas.
