Summary

The Town of Lakeshore (Town) intends to construct a 18,140 SM (approximately) Multi-Use Recreation Facility (MURF) which will accommodate three indoor NHL sized ice hockey rinks (fixed seating 1000 seats capacity in premier rink and 200 spectator seating in the other two rinks), multi-purpose gymnasium, swimming pool, indoor walking/running track, multi-use program rooms, administration offices, site parking and Essex County library branch along with supporting amenities and site services. The proposed site is 48.6 hectares and located at the Lakeshore Soccer Complex on 447 Renaud Line. As part of the future re-development of the site, the Town is master planning the campus to accommodate one additional ice pad (final total of 4 pads), a future indoor aquatic centre, indoor soccer facility, additional program areas, related outdoor field activity areas, and an expansion to the new branch library. The MURF is designed to achieve LEED certification with emphasis on sustainable design features that improve the quality of the visitor experience and lowers operating costs including but not limited to energy efficiency, heat recovery, re-use of low grade recycled heat, energy efficient lighting, low water consumption, recycled content and designing the building for installing future roof top solar panels.
